Dear GPM Families, 

Thank you for voting us the number-one pediatric office in Brooklyn for 2024. We appreciate this tremendous honor. Since the 1960s, we have tirelessly cared for and advocated for our patients in the Bay Ridge and Staten Island Communities. To this day, we carry out this responsibility with the utmost pride and joy. Thank you for entrusting us with their health! 

Currently, pediatric care is not predominantly offered by family-owned offices like ours but rather by larger groups such as hospital systems and private equity firms who often focus more on their bottom line than quality of care. This is in staunch contrast to our emphasis on preventive medicine and prioritization of spending quality time with our patients. Your children are not just numbers to us. As chronic diseases among children continue to rise, our doctors' care and expertise is more important than ever. 

With the ever-evolving state of health care and the drastic increase in chronic illnesses, it's necessary for us to reorganize our offices and formalize an integrative branch of our practice to best serve our patients beginning on November 15th. We hope you know that these decisions were made with much consideration. 

GPM Integrative

Dr. Gabriel will oversee GPM Integrative and provide patients with his integrative style of medicine, which combines traditional medical practices with his in-depth knowledge of bio-medical interventions, an approach that few pediatricians have. He combines this with a tireless devotion toward his patients, which has produced positive results for many patients, especially children with chronic issues and those seeking more natural options for their care. 

To ensure that Dr. Gabriel can provide the highest quality of care, the GPM Integrative section of the practice will require a membership for you to continue treatment under his care. Creating this membership and capping the number of patients will result in a more efficient office, with reduced wait times, and allow Dr. Gabriel more time with his patients. The membership fee will include one annual wellness visit. Dr. Gabriel will no longer participate in any health insurance plans as of November 15, 2024. Between now and then, Dr. Gabriel will continue to take insurance for visits from most insurance providers. However, patients who use Magnacare will be unable to do so after October 24th.

For patients not interested in GPM Integrative, we have five other providers with over 100 years of combined experience. GPM Pediatrics will continue to take insurance through Dr. Raptis, Dr. Darcy, Dr. Mentesana, Dr. Maguina, and Nurse Practitioner Lateesa - all of whom you know and love. Each of these providers has unique qualities that will continue to enable your families to have a bond. In line with our aim to become more efficient and provide an improved patient experience, GPM will change the alignment of providers at each office: 

• GPM Integrative located only in the Brooklyn Office: Dr. Gabriel 
• Brooklyn Office: Dr. Raptis and Dr. Mentesana 
• Staten Island Office: Dr. Darcy, Dr. Maguina, Dr. Mentesana, NP Posey 

These providers will continue seeing sick visits and allow walk-in visits. Integrative members can also make an appointment with these providers for sick visits and be covered through insurance.

There will be an additional FAQ document sent out in the coming weeks to offer further clarifications. No further action is needed for non GPM Integrated patients or Path Pediatric patients at this point.
